Bridge
In the recent Australia wide bridge competition for pairs, local Forbes woman, Louise Payne and her playing partner Peter Quin of Condobolin, came second out of sixteen hundred pairs who competed throughout Australia. Louise is an associate member of the Parkes Bridge Club and she and Peter who is a full member at Parkes, play there every Thursday.
Last year in the same tournament they came ninth. It is a great achievement for the pair. They received a congratulatory letter from the Australian Bridge Federation and a specially engraved pen each. Last week they topped off a good year by winning the Parkes Gill Ross trophy just beating Beth Thomas and Suzie McNamara.

There are still vacancies, early and late, for any players to take part as there are divisions for A, B and C grades in men. Ladies, junior and veteran players are also catered for.
If anyone has a cart they won't be using this weekend organisers of the classic would appreciate if you could make it available for hiring out. For all on golf and the classic contact the Pro Shop on 6851 1554. Finally, today is Cup day and we have a tip for you, Marmelo. Good luck if having a punt.
Croquet
We hope that members were well prepared for the trick or treating of the neighbourhood children and weren’t caught out with tricks. As always there were some very competitive games on Tuesday and Saturday with one Tuesday game resulting in an absolute slaughter of two members whose names won’t be mentioned. Both days have been a little low in numbers with illness, holidays and other activities taking precedence. Welcome back Anne and Harley Stewart from their overseas jaunt.
November 7 is Melbourne cup day with two sweeps to be held for members, bring your loose change along as there will be no facility to change notes. In view of Melbourne cup day falling on our birthday lunch day, the latter has been moved to November 14 with lunch to be held at The Chinese Garden restaurant after the mornings games.
