Still, out of the 55 who nominated there were some good scores where just a few played for the Medal of Medallists which was won by Clayton Alley with 68 nett, which also saw him win B grade on a count-back from Stephen McAlister.

Last Saturday after play the yearly presentation of major trophies was held and while not the best ever support those in attendance gave the evening the Thumbs Up for the way in which it was conducted.
Just to refresh your memory, our major winners were, A grade John Betland.

As mentioned last week we are going to have a quick look at the NSW Open results where we were pretty well represented with five of our members engaged over the week which was played at Twin Creeks Country Club which is located in the Penrith area.
John Betland who qualified for the Open winning his spot here a couple of months back did not disgrace to post rounds of 74, 75 on Thursday and Friday to be five over par which unfortunately wasn't good enough to play the weekend.
“It was a good experience. Overall I hit the ball well but I didn't putt good enough.
Putts around five to ten feet just didn't go in, that was the story of the rounds, John told us.
His playing partners were Mark Hale, from Mudgee who played in the recent Nissan Classic but he too missed the cut at seven over par.
Their professional partner was Ben Stowe, a trainee from Royal Sydney Golf Club.
Our junior member, Cameron McMillan through the FGA was invited to play in a junior Canadian Ambrose on Wednesday, a day prior to the first round of the Open.
Cameron's father Neil said it was great experience for Cameron who was joined by juniors from Kiama and Batemans Bay along with Queensland touring professional Craig Hocknull, who finished seven under in the four day Open.
“All the boys play off five handicaps, they know each other and Craig was really good as he is a coaching pro and offered tips all the way round.
They played that well they finished third overall, but their handicaps were against them,” Neil said.
Peter Cowhan won a spot for three players in the Pro-Am which was played on the Tuesday prior.
He was joined by two of our 'gun' players, son-in-law Daniel Bayley and Steve Betland who made the trip to also caddy for his brother John in the Open proper.
Their playing partner was touring professional Rhein Gibson who himself recorded an eagle and seven birdies to finish eight under par in the Pro-Am.
Overall they 'tour up the course' in a Texas Scramble which at the end of the day did not suit their talents and handicaps where for example, a 30 marker could carry his ball to where the pros drive finished before playing to the green.
Their score of 87 points was 16 behind the winners.
“It was a great day but the scramble format and our handicaps didn't really give us a chance to win but the experience was worth the drive,” Daniel said.
Finally off course results from the classic weekend. Calcutta, first Wayne Cotterill.
Second Marin Sedger and equal third Peter Tilden, John Betland and Andrew Cogswell.
One hundred club, first Bob Borger, second Barwy, and third Chris Lamont.
While the classic committee awaits all accounts from the successful weekend they again pass on their thanks to those who played, and in the hope we see about 15 or so more players next year which will put us over the 200 players for Sunday mark.
With the course now in prime condition has there been a better time to encourage some new players to our game?
Casual play can be any day of the week while there are mid week competitions for the beginner to the more serious player.
Daylight saving time is designed for outdoor sports.
If clubs and a buggy are required to play these are available for hire from the Pro Shop.
No matter who you are or your ability, club curator 'Jack' Clarke as always asks that you carry a sand bucket to fill in fairway divots and also make the effort to repair pitch marks on the greens.
