Two days before the cash for containers came into effect in NSW on December 1, Forbes was without a place to claim their cash back.
The additional cost went onto recyclable containers a month ago.
On Friday, Kammi Anandula from Metro Petroleum called to let the Advocate know they would be hosting a container for the returns.
He is expecting a temporary container to be delivered in the next two weeks and will be taking returns over-the-counter until the proper returns machine is delivered in the new year.
Mr Anandula is excited to bring the service to Forbes, as well as 15 of their sites including Cowra and Bathurst, saying anticipation for the scheme is running high.
He believes it will be in hot demand over the summer as children seek to raise a few dollars by collecting the cans and bottles for cash.
“Children are already filling milk crates and bringing them to us,” he said.
“It will be school holidays soon.”
Most 150ml to three litre drink containers will be eligible for a 10 cent refund at an approved NSW collection point.
Container materials that may be eligible for a refund include glass, plastic, aluminium, steel and liquid paperboard (cartons).
Containers should be empty, uncrushed, unbroken and have the original label attached.
Wine, spirits, cordial and plain milk containers are generally not eligible.
