Mrs Spry said she was inspired to shave her head by two students, the Garland girls: Scarlett shaved her hair earlier this year and Ava is still undergoing treatment for Leukaemia.
“It’s one of the things I never would have done except for this,” Mrs Spry said.
“I hope it inspires other people to do other good things.”
The initial goal was $2000, but the event raised more than $8000 for the Leukaemia Foundation with the help of several fundraisers and a raffle. Donations to support Mrs Spry will close in a month.
