Police said the two dogs were seen in a car parked in the homemakers centre carpark about 3pm Saturday – when the temperature peaked at 38 degrees.
The window of the vehicle had been left down about a centimetre, police said, but it wasn’t enough to stop the car heating up.
In this case, the window was able to be forced, but police will break a car window if deemed necessary.
The owners will be referred to the RSPCA and issued an infringement notice for being in charge of an animal and failing to exercise due care.
