Regional manager Northern, Mark Summers, said the upgrade would increase the capacity of the electricity network and replace network assets which have reached end of life.
“The project includes the replacement of 47 power poles, 30 pole cross-arms and 10 kilometres of high voltage powerline,” he said.
A series of planned power outages will be required during the project to allow crews to safely access the electricity network to carry out the work.
Affected homes and businesses will receive advanced notification with the specific dates and times of any planned power outages affecting them.
The planned power outages are dependent on suitable weather conditions and may be postponed if conditions are unfavourable or unforeseen circumstances arise.
“This is a large project so we have undertaken significant planning and will be bringing in extra crews and equipment to keep the number of planned power outages to a minimum for customers,” Mark said.
Essential Energy’s Forbes crews will be assisted by crews and equipment from Orange, Molong, Canowindra, Dubbo, Wellington, West Wyalong, Parkes and Blayney.
“We appreciate that planned power outages may be inconvenient for some local households and businesses and thank customers for their understanding and patience while we work to improve the electricity network for their community,” Mark said.
The project will be completed in stages between January and March.
