Police are appealing for witnesses to fires that were lit in local parks on the weekend.

Police extinguished one fire in Jenny Murphy Park about 11ppm Sunday and called the fire brigade to a fire in Paul Wenz Park (off Hettie Place) a similar time Saturday night.
A police spokesperson said the fires could have had devastating consequences and urged anyone with information to come forward.
In other police matters, two cars parked at a York Street home were damaged with a large rock from the owner’s own garden. Police said the offender/s entered the yard about 12.30am Monday.
A bollard at the ski dam has been bent and partially removed from the ground. The bollards are in place to prevent cars entering the site at night when the area is closed.
Unknown persons have entered the back yard of a Farnell Street home and stolen property from the yard. The theft occurred about 8pm Friday.
