The semi-finals played out consistent to form, setting up the A Grade grand final between Home Timber and Hardware and Trundle, and the B Grade grand final between VC Reid and Postie.
The Advocate’s insider says favourites for the A Grade title should be Home Timber and Hardware, who have remained the competition leaders throughout the year.
HTH have their fair share of town team talent, but it has been the other players such as Currey, Toby Hurford and Connor Greenhalgh who have made this team strong from one to 15.
But spectators should note that Trundle has clicked in the latter part of the year and have a team full of players who can both bat and bowl.
Rumour has it that their iconic leader Adam Hall may be unavailable and this will hurt Trundle, but these Ducks really want to win in their first year of the competition.
In B Grade, the red-hot favourites VC Reid meet a Postie outfit that has stumbled to the grand final, beating Tigers last week by one wicket.
VC are without captain Jacob Reid who has a thigh injury, but have enough talent on board to account for the Postie.
Although, after last week’s thrashing at the hands of Trundle, VC will need to be careful.
The Postie team has pushed them each time this year and with a youthful side that just need to take their chances they’re worth an outside bet.
VC will be relying on Nicholson, Bernardi and Clarke Melbourne to demolish the Postie batting order.
Postie’s bowling attack has taken wickets and Trundle showed last week that if you can knock over the VC Reid top order cheaply a win is there for the taking.
The grand finals are on at 1pm Saturday, to be played on Grinsted Oval and South Circle Oval.
Games are 40 overs, spectators welcome.
