Forbes, Parkes and Lachlan Shire councils are on the search for youth actors for the 10th annual mock crash demonstration, the cornerstone of the NOT A STATISTIC! Youth Driver Education Program.
The councils' Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, Melanie Suitor, is encouraging local up and coming youth actors to audition to be part of the road safety initiative.
“This year will mark 10 years since the first mock crash was held, so it will be very special,” she said.
“We are looking for three actors to join our team and are holding Youth Actor Auditions on Wednesday 21 March at 5pm in the Parkes Shire Council Chambers.
“The auditions will give participants an overview of all aspects of the project. Then youth actors will take part in both filmed and live ab-lib exercises.
“We are hoping to uncover some unknown talent that will bring something new to the annual mock crash demonstration, so if you are over 16 please register and come along,” Ms Suitor said.
Local actor Krystle-Lee McMurray, has been involved in the project for the last few years, is returning again this year and says it's a unique and exciting opportunity.
“As an actor being involved in this project is such a great experience,” she said.
“It's a really interesting mix of acting in front of a camera as well as a live audience of over 500 Year 10 students.
“The cast and crew are really friendly and professional. But most importantly we are trying to save lives - so even if we reach just one person - we have done our job.”
Pre-registration for the auditions is essential.

This year's mock car crash demonstration will be held in August.
