Industry expert and TAFE NSW Forbes Hospitality Head Teacher Di Johnson, who boasts more than 20 years experience, said industry growth and exciting employment opportunities in Forbes and the central west mean there’s never been a better time to consider a career in hospitality.
“Australian Government statistics reveal that demand for skilled hospitality workers is extremely high in Forbes and the central west,” she said.
“Accomodation and food services is classed as one of the top five industries in terms of opportunities and growth across the country, and is the leading youth employment section in NSW, with 300,000 regional workers employed in the industry annually – 45 per cent of which are employees aged between 15-24.
“Statistics also reveal that employers in the region have identified hospitality as the most difficult industry to recruit for, because there’s a shortage of quality workers.
“The exciting thing is that demand for qualified employees is not only high, but there’s opportunities aplenty.
“A TAFE NSW short course is not only a great way to get job-ready skills to start a new career in hospitality, they are also perfect for those looking for professional development with an eye on career progression.”
Ms Johnson said enrolments were now open for hospitality qualifications that employers recognise at TAFE NSW Forbes, including Food Safety Supervision, Hospiality Essentials, Café Catering Skills and more.
