Mrs Stirling said she was motivated to shave her head after several friends were diagnosed with breast cancer in a short period of time at the end of last year.
“I figured I could do something,” Mrs Stirling said.
That something proved to be a fundraising luncheon and raffle at the Forbes Inn on Sunday, which has raised more than $1,300 towards Mrs Stirling’s cause as well as raised awareness.
McGrath Foundation breast care nurse Di Green spoke about the effects of chemotherapy and the headwear she has available.
Hairdresser Janice Cassidy spoke about the wig library and how the wigs are cared for, and demonstrated how they are fitted.
If you would like to contribute, an account has been set up at the Central West Credit Union under the name of Marg Head Shave Fundraiser.
Mrs Stirling said any donation, big or small, is appreciated.
Mrs Stirling will brave the razor at the Forbes Rugby Union Club Ladies Day on June 16.
Currently, Mrs Stirling’s hair is just over an inch too short to be donated to be made into an adult’s wig, but she is confident she will reach the minimum length by the time it is shaved off.
