Forbes Junior Rugby called for girls interested in the sport after the gala days were launched as a spin-off from regular Walla Rugby Gala days (ages 7’s to 11’s)
Ten Forbes girls signed up to go to the gala day on Sunday.
Junior rugby player Tyla Cavallaro said the gala day was an enjoyable experience.
“I loved trying something new along with learning new skills in a non stressful environment,” she said.
Spokesperson Geraldine Picker said they have received more registrations this week, since the first gala day was held and hopes interest continues to grow.
Girls 7’s Junior Rugby will be run in conjunction with the Junior Walla's Gala day.
Junior rugby player Tay-lah Picker described the day as an amazing success.
“Not only did we learn the new skills but many were able to enjoy the great company around us with the day full of sportsmanship, laughter and confidence,” she said.
Over the upcoming months, gala days will be held at various different locations including Forbes, Parkes, Bathurst, Mudgee, Orange and Narromine.
On Sunday, June 3, the Girls 7’s Junior Rugby and Walla’s Gala Day will be in Cowra. Sign on is from 9.30am with skills and drills from 10am. The gala finishes off with games.
