The first time Geoffrey performed at Grenfell was in the High School Hall about 1977 with a Lawson story. Leonard Teale was in the audience and Geoffrey sprinkled white powder through his beard to make him look a little older. He doesn’t have to do that now.

Of course even 1977 wasn’t the first time Geoffrey had been to Grenfell. His family connections are very strong as pioneers in the area. It is only fitting that Geoffrey now returns this weekend to perform as Henry.
On this occasion Geoffrey will be performing on the Main stage at 10 am and 12.30 pm on the Saturday – as well as compering Poetry on the Boards in the afternoon at the criterion hotel from 2:30 pm. On the Main stage Geoffrey will be performing some of Henry’s poems, some songs and perhaps a yarn or two.
Geoffrey’s always had a soft spot for Grenfell and no doubt will take the time to visit his Dad at the Grenfell Cemetery and perhaps have a yarn to some of the other numerous relatives who reside out there. Geoffrey will no doubt visit the memorial in the main street where many of his relatives are listed. He will also be reminded of those relatives who went to World War I-fresh in his mind after visiting Gallipoli last October and being part of the commemoratives charge at Beersheba. Make sure you catch up with Geoffrey and say g’day.
