The annual Cup meeting is on Monday August 6, with nominations for the eight-race program closing next Tuesday.
Club president John Rennick is anticipating a high level of interest, with the feature race the $30,000 Bankstown Sports Club Cup.
The Cup meeting attracted record nominations and was oversubscribed in 2017, club members have since built another 12 tie-up stalls giving them the capacity for a ninth race if needed this year.
They’re also working hard on the restoration of the historic grandstand, beneficiary of a $100,000 State Government grant earlier this year.
The meeting continues to enjoy the long-time support of the Bankstown Sports Club, sponsors of the major race, with nearly 200 members expected to make the trip to Forbes.
The visitors traditionally enjoy the weekend in town, including what is renowned as the best calcutta in country racing at the Forbes Services Memorial Club on Sunday evening.
Wagga Wagga-trained Gentleman Max won the Cup last year, with 2016 winner Zarlu coming up the outside but just short at the finish line.
Forbes trainer Dennis Bush picked up a double with his horses Molasses and Da Grinch.
Acceptances for this year’s meeting close at 9am next Thursday, so the Advocate hopes to include a preview of what should be a great day’s racing in next Friday’s edition.
All welcome at Monday’s meeting, gates open about 11am and entry is free but you can make a donation to CanAssist at the gate.
