Cattle sale Monday
Yarding 906 Change -62
Numbers remained steady this sale and quality was similar to that of previous sales. There were some good quality supplementary fed lines offered along with the plainer secondary types. Yearling steers made up the majority of the offering along with a good penning of cows. The usual buyers were present and competing in a firm to dearer market.
Yearling steers to processors were firm to 4c/kg better. Middle weights sold from 270c to 287c, and heavyweights received from 269c to 296c/kg. Middle weight steers to feed lifted 20c, receiving from 250c to 323c, while heavy weights ranged in price from 265c to 292c/kg. The heifer portion held firm with processors paying from 240c to 285c, while those to feed sold from 233c to 270c/kg.
Heavy steers and bullocks were firm to 4c better, selling from 250c to 296c/kg. Grown heifers reached 250c/kg. An improved quality yarding of cows showed the biggest change particularly on the secondary cows.
Sheep and lamb sale, Tuesday

Numbers lifted this sale with lambs showing the increase. Lamb quality continues to be very mixed, with some handy finished lines of supplementary fed stock offered, along with the plainer drier types. The usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
Light new season lambs averaged $144/head. Trade weights were $10 dearer, with prices making from $146 to $184/head. Heavy and extra heavy weights were also $10 better to make from $190 to $217/head.
Old light lambs received from $130 to $145/head. Trade weights were $13 dearer partly related to quality, with prices making from $152 to $187/head. Heavy lambs to 26kg sold from $186 to $220, with extra heavy weights making from $227 to $263/head. Carcase prices averaged from 753c to 807c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers remained steady and quality was similar to that of previous sales. Prices lifted slightly.
