Motorists are advised of temporary closures from next week on the Iron Bridge across the Lachlan River at Forbes for essential bridge maintenance work.

The bride will be temporarily closed from Monday 12 November to Tuesday 11 December between 10am and 1.30pm on weekdays, weather permitting.
Temporary bridge closures will be required to carry out the work on the bridge deck including timber kerb replacement, truss repairs and preparations for the bridge deck resurfacing.
It has been scheduled to minimise delays for commuters, bus services and road users who travel across the Iron Bridge.
During the bridge closures, traffic will detour via Red Bend and Wirrinya roads with signage to direct traffic.
The detour route is 15.5 kilometres or approximately 17 minutes of additional travel time.
After the bridge closure, maintenance work will continue on the bridge on weekdays between 7am and 5pm until May 2019, weather permitting.
Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed zones will be in place for the safety of workers and road users during work hours.
Motorists should plan their trip and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including reduced speed limits.
