Tuesday’s sheep sale
Yarding 26250 Change 10450
Numbers jumped this sale with both lamb and mutton showing the increase. Lamb quality was similar to that of previous sales with some good lines of supplementary fed finished lambs offered along with the plainer secondary lines. Most of the usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
There was 2,500 new season lambs penned and prices held fairly steady. Trade weights sold from $142 to $176/head. Restockers were active on the lighter store types paying from $72 to $142/head. Old light lambs lifted $8 selling from $125 to $146/head. Trade weights were $5 to $7 better with prices ranging from $144 to $180/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were firm to $5/head better. Heavy lambs sold from $174 to $194 with extra heavies receiving from $187 to $232/head. Carcase prices averaged from 733c to 768c/kg.
Mutton numbers lifted and were made up of mostly mixed quality Merinos. Prices were stronger with Merino ewes selling from $96 to $158/head.
Monday’s cattle sale

Numbers increased this sale and quality continues to be mixed. There was a large percentage of plainer cattle penned, along with the few better finished and grain assisted lines. Yearlings made up the majority of the offering.
Yearling steers to processors decreased 7c to make from 238c to 307c/kg for middle and heavy weights. Those to feed were 15c easier to vary in price from 240c to 320c/kg. The heifer portion to feed was back 14c to make from 230c to 265c/kg. Those to processors sold from 243c to 280c/kg. Restockers were active on some larger lines of light well bred heifers that sold from 204c to 230c/kg.
Well finished heavy steers and bullocks lifted 6c to receive from 261c to 307c/kg. Grown heifers sold from 225c to 270c/kg. Cows were 10c cheaper, with heavy 2 scores making from 176c to 214c, while 3 scores sold from 213c to 233c/kg.
