Forbes Running and Triathlon Club’s Nick Turner says the course is going to be fantastic for this weekend’s action.
There are events to suit everyone with a Super Sprint, a Crocs Challenge, Long Course and mincrocs included in the program.
While the top end will be competing for a fast time, the majority will be competing against themselves.
- Nick Turner
The super sprint is a 250m swim, 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run set to start at 8.30am from the Lake Forbes Aquatic area on the Bedgerebong Road.
The Crocs Challege competitors will hit the water at 8am for a 750 metre swim, 30km bike and 7km run.
The earlier risers will tackle the long course, equal to a half Iron man, from 6.30am diving into the warm waters of the Lake for a 1.9km swim before jumping on their bikes for a 90km ride, finishing with a 21km run.
The Mini-Crocs wrap up racing from 11am with a 50m swim, 1km bike ride and 250m run.
Turner said there will be plenty of healthy competition across the events with a fair amount of entries already registered across each event.
“All of the past winners are returning this year, which is a really good sign that the course and event are standing the test of time,” he said.
Though, getting involved in the triathlon is not always about competing against everyone else, but rather challenging yourself according to Turner.
“While the top end will be competing for a fast time, the majority will be competing against themselves,” he said.
It is this challenge, in particular the back to back courses, which is what a lot of triathletes enjoy.
Turner urges everyone to give a triathlon a go to challenge themselves and also for the sense of achievement and accomplishment that completing one gives.
Having all the professional equipment really isn’t necessary, according to Turner, as long as you’re having a go.
Registrations can be completed online now via the Forbes Running and Tri Club’s facebook page. Online registrations close at 1pm, Friday, December 7.
