The increase is the first for many months and followed rain which saw more than 25mm fall in the catchment area during the week ending January 11.
According to the latest Water NSW Water Availability report released last week the water level at Wyangala increased from 41 per cent of capacity on January 7 to 42 per cent of capacity on January 14.
In contrast the water level at Carcoar Dam fell from 39 per cent of capacity to 38 per cent over the same time period.
Water NSW says tributary inflows from the rain totalled about 4,000 ML and this is being delivered as Environmental Water Allowance (Wyangala), supplemented by an additional 3,000 ML of releases from Wyangala Dam.
“This small fresh event, when in the Upper Lachlan consisted of about 7,000 ML over 10 days and will become a large fresh below Booligal of 12 to 14 days,” Water NSW said.
The Crookwell area, upstream of Wyangala has received more precipitation with 56.8mm falling.
The wettest day, January 12, saw 37mm fall.
