The multi-award winning scheme offers visiting drivers who have travelled 100km from home a complimentary cup of tea or coffee at any of the participating businesses.
The scheme is a collaboration between the local councils, Roads and Maritime Services and the 98 participating businesses to combat driver fatigue.
"The scheme encourages drivers to take a break from long distance driving before they become fatigued and we encourage them to stop for a free cup of tea or coffee, have a stretch, and have a chat with a local and perhaps a look around an area they haven’t visited before," Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils' Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, Melanie Suitor said.
The 'Free Cuppa for the Driver' scheme commences on 1 March 2019 and will run until 31 May 2019.
