Saturday and Sunday will see the first of the competitions in the relatively new club's 2019 series.
Action starts at the Forbes Showground Pony Club sand arena from 7.30am both days.
This event has been in the planning since mid last year and the committee is excited to bring the sport of ranch sorting to Forbes.
There's great interest from this district, with some people making their first entry into competition after the club's first clinic late last year.
But there's also keen interest from people across a broad geographical area - particularly given the difficulty of getting stock to work with while the drought is affecting so many people.
"People are travelling from Cobar, Louth, Tamworth, Sydney," the club's Melissa West said.
There's great prizes on offer too, including ribbons and encouragement awards.
"Half the entry fees go into the prize pool to go back to riders," Melissa said.
Spectators are encouraged to come down and check out what ranch sorting is all about.
It's a family horse-sport that is rapidly growing in popularity. Riders work in pairs to enter an 18 metre round yard and draft numbered cattle out a gate in numerical order - it doesn't require you to be the fastest on a horse, it's all about your skill working with the cattle.
There'll be more than 300 runs happening both days, with the more experienced competitors in the arena early.
The beginners will have the opportunity to watch them work before they have their turn later in the afternoon.
A canteen will be open during competition and camping is available for visitors for Forbes.
