Eves Karydas will cover a lot of miles before she lands in Forbes for VANFEST on May 10 and 11, but she's excited to be part of the 2019 music festival.
Fresh from her first headline tour and the release of her first album in late 2018, Karydas is looking forward to taking the stage at VANFEST alongside artists like PNAU and Methyl Ethyl.
"It's a great line-up," she said. "There is everyone who is happening right now."
Eves Karydas would have to be considered one of those. Her first headline tour highlighted for the Cairns-born artist just how far her album had reached.
"It was like, holy moly this is incredible," she said. "(The songs that were) mine, are now a lot of other people's."
Karydas was only 13 years old when she started performing around her home town. She'd been making her own music since she was 11 and eventually convinced some cafes to give her a gig.
Her family moved to Brisbane, and at 17 Karydas relocated to Melbourne hoping to find her creative niche.
She released a well-received debut EP in July 2015, and her music has grown from there.
At 21, she went travelling around America and Europe before landing in London, where she would base herself for the next three years.
Her first album was born "in a small, dingy flat on the fifth floor of an ex-council block, with five other people", her biography explains.
Vanfest is a one-off appearance for the artist, between now and then, she's travelling and writing for her second album.
She spoke to the Forbes Advocate from LA, from there she'll head to London and Stockholm.
"I've got some amazing sessions in LA," Karydas said.
"London is kind of like home for me, I lived there for three years, I've got some amazing collaborators in London."
