On March 26 all enjoyed a really lovely luncheon at the Vandenberg Hotel prior to our monthly meeting with approximately 30 members in attendance and reports were that it was a very social day.

At the meeting our President Tuppy mentioned the Open Gardens in October and hoping that some will put their hand up to open their garden as well as some to volunteer at those gardens which are opened. A raffle will be conducted during the Open Garden day and already Annette is looking for people to sit and sell tickets during September. So if you have any spare time during that month to sell tickets you might like to let Annette know.
Our guest speaker for the March meeting was Marg Applebee Project Officer from Landcare. Marg spoke on her time with Landcare which she has thoroughly enjoyed. Significant plantings of trees has been varied including a great amount at the Central West Livestock Exchange. She was forthright in the organisation of the Landcare conference in Parkes during 2011. Marg also mentioned the aspects of Landcare and what they hope to achieve in the near future whereby they look at green areas and what can be done to improve them. It was also mentioned by Marg that a free coach trip has been organized for the 24th April to Burrendong Arboretum with morning tea and lunch provided.
I also advise that Janette is in the midst of organising a trip to The Maze over near Monteagle on 28th May. This should be an interesting trip with Morning tea scheduled to be in a Garden at Grenfell then onto the Maze for lunch with a cost of $55 which includes lunch. Payment is due at the April meeting. So please have your money in an envelope with your name on it.
I would also like to remind members that your Membership is due. Our next meeting will be held at the home of Janette and Max Thomas 25 Oxford Street.
The Club is always looking for fresh ideas or if you have any good gardening hints please bring them to share as after all our interests are in the garden.
