The Men's Probus Club is organising a Mystery Trip for Monday November 18.
At the conclusion of business, a very big welcome was extended to our guest speaker, Inspector Robyn Favell, from the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Robyn gave a very interesting talk of her life growing up, going to school and living in the Cobar region.
Upon leaving school she worked in the Rural Bank for ten years, got married and finally joined the Rural Fire Service as her Grandfather and Father had done before her.
Stationed at Cobar, she spoke of the difficulties associated with the vast areas they had to cover, and the big fires from Bourke to Balranald in 74/75.
In 2000 she became the first female Inspector of the Rural Fire Service and in 2007 she graduated from University with a degree in teaching.
The fires of 2012/13 which raged for weeks truly tested them with 7000000 odd hectares burnt out in the western region of the state.
Robyn also received the Commissioner's Commendation and now she, and her husband Chris, work and reside in Forbes. They have two sons, three daughters and nine grandchildren with one more on the way.
Robyn was presented with a small gift of appreciation by Margaret Nelson.
The next meeting will be held at the Services Memorial Club on Friday, July 26, commencing at 10am.
Hostesses are Mary Everson and Carmel Murray.
After the meeting we will be joining the members of the Men's Probus Club to hear a talk on Men's and Women's health.
