Council's road safety and injury prevention officer Belinda Coe says the event is a collaboration between councils, police, SES and ambulance services.
It's an annual event, this year featuring young Forbes actors Krystle-Lee McMurray and Wally Campbell, and this is the fourth time the dressed rehearsal has been opened to the public.
"It sends such an important message," Ms Coe said.
"We've found that having a live audience is a real lift to the performance, but there is also quite a lot of interest from parents to see what happens at mock crash."
The program aims to improve the attitudes and behaviours of young drivers and passengers and is targeted at local Year 10 students.
The demonstration starts with some establishing scenes that introduce the characters and set up the mock crash scenario by starting to tell the road safety narrative about what led to the crash. Then there is a full emergency response to the crash.
"It's very realistic and as close to the real thing as it can be," Mrs Coe said.
"We finish with victim impact statements from the driver and passengers set six months later, so the audience can see what the longer term effects are."

The mock crash demonstration is the major strategy of the NOT A STATISTIC! Youth Driver Education Program.
Young drivers, particularly red P platers, are over-represented in crash statistics across the State. Locally, a 27 per cent reduction has been recorded in crashes involving young drivers since the program commenced 11 years ago.
"Please remember that if you are coming to the dressed rehearsal the content is not suitable for children under the age of 15," Mrs Coe said.
"While it is just the dress rehearsal, it will still be a memorable experience for the audience."
The dressed rehearsal will commence at 7pm at Parkes High School's Multi-Purpose Centre. The run time is around 90 minutes. No need to book in - just turn up.
More than 300 students from the local high schools in the Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire areas will view the mock crash demonstration during two sessions on Friday August 16.
