The event sees racers of all ages descend on the state forest on Sunday, September 15 to compete in a 25km, 50km or 100km cycling race.
Racing is set to begin from 7.30am for those braving the 100km option, and will see up to 200 competitors all trying their best to be first across the line.
The event's race course will see riders head around a 25km long track within the state forest up to four times depending on the distance they are competing in.
The annual not-for-profit event has been hosted by the Orange Mountain Bike Club for more than ten years and attracts riders from as far as Canberra as well as from around the region.
Orange Mountain Bike Club President Jack Rahilly, notes that competitor numbers for this year's race are looking very strong, with a great field of riders across all distance options.
"The Club is very pleased to have the support of several local Orange businesses, and looks forward to awarding prizes to the fastest racers in each category."
Orange Mountain Bike Club's Allison Campbell said the Back Yamma Bigfoot Mountain Bike Race is a big favourite of the club as it is a fairly unique track.
Mrs Campbell said the event is a marathon race, but due to the terrain being rather flat and not very technical, it is open to all skill levels and ages.
Although the event is open to all skill levels, the distance races are fiercely contested, with strong competition between riders from the Orange and Dubbo cycling clubs.
Along with the strong competition, Mrs Campbell expects they will see quite a few road cyclists trying their hand at the dirt track event, due to the relative flatness of the course.
Entry fees are $35 for the 25km race, $50 for the 50km race and $65 for the 100km race. Pairs 100k entry is $50 per person.
Mrs Campbell said they will be awarding prizes top three placed male and female riders in each distance race.
Camping is available on-site for free on the Saturday night. A number of portable toilets will be available on-site for the Saturday night.
While camping is available for free on the Saturday night, a small donation from campers to cover costs would be appreciated.
Parkes Rotary will be putting running a canteen on Sunday from 7am onwards.
