Over the next couple of weeks, students from Red Bend Catholic College and Forbes High School will be amongst thousands across NSW sitting the last of their secondary school exams.
The Advocate sat down with a handful of students from both schools this week to talk about what the HSC has in store for them and how they've prepared.
With that first English test out of the way, students continue to review and revise their year's work in preparation for the rest of their exams.
While students admitted to a range of emotions over the exams, having a good study plan and knowing your strengths and weaknesses was attributed to help plan for the tests.
Red Bend Catholic College's Brianna Duncan said it was a lot of work to prepare for the HSC, but it was helpful to know her strengths and weaknesses to prioritise what she had to study.
Revision and completing as many practice questions as possible were among some of the strategies used by Red Bend's Jamie Mitton when she was preparing for the exams.
Jamie said keeping calm and using past papers along with support from family and her teachers has helped prepare her for the exams.
Forbes High School's Jade Carpenter said that making a draft essay and remembering a range of different quotes helped her a little with completing the first English test on Thursday.
She said that knowing the syllabus and practising what they may be tested on has been one of her main strategies for studying for the exams.
Jade said that trying your best and putting in as much effort into the exams and studying as possible is all she can recommend for the remaining exams.
Making a lot of drafts and revising what they have studied throughout the year were two of the strategies that Forbes High School's David Chu prepared for his exams.
Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, Sarah Mitchell said they would like to wish all of the 75,000 students sitting the HSC the very best for the exams.
Mrs Mitchell said that they know this can be a very stressful time for students and to reach out to your friends, family and teachers if you need more help and support.
Exams conclude with Textiles and Design, on Monday, November 11.
The Forbes Advocate wishes all our local students sitting their HSC exams the very best.
