In other end-of-year school news, students from Gooloogong Public School, St Joseph's Catholic School at Eugowra and the local Pre School joined the Eugowra Public School students for a combined Disco which was greatly enjoyed by everyone.
All the EPS students joined in for a pool party on Tuesday before a Year 6 Farewell Disco.
The children have had two weeks of intensive skills and swimming instructions from the Oz Swim coaches.
Being able to swim is a very high life skill and the children have benefited greatly for the skills they have been taught.
A message from relieving principal Nick Doyle
2019 has been an exceptional year at Eugowra Public School. I have thoroughly enjoyed my twelve months as Relieving Principal and cannot believe how quickly the year has gone! The staff and students are second-to-none.
All staff members go above and beyond to ensure each of our students are cared for and encouraged to achieve their personal best at all times.
There have been many highlights this year; most notably celebrating our 140 years of Public Education in Eugowra. The turnout we had in September was astonishing. It was such a wonderful opportunity to hear of years gone past and how the school has changed.
The outstanding mural was erected on the front of the building earlier this year capturing the Magical Faraway Tree adventures. It is pleasing to see the many cars pull up out the front for a photo!
I have enjoyed building strong community partnerships with the residents and staff at Willawa through visits each term, as well as with Gooloogong Public School with our combined discos and with the Preschool and St Joseph's with Simultaneous Reading Day, our combined Athletics, cross country and swimming carnivals, Christmas carol singing and most recently our Christmas disco held in our school hall.
Next year is sure to be exciting at EPS! Mrs Carolyn Austin will continue teaching the K-2 class from Monday to Thursday. Ms Sonia Dalla Vecchia will teach the K-2 class on Thursdays and Fridays as well as continuing on our new initiative this year of the school garden. This important program is established now and I'm excited for this to continue next year.
Mr Christian West will teach the 3-6 class full time. Of course we will welcome back Mrs Carmel Doyle from maternity leave as substantive Principal. She will work Monday to Wednesday.
I will continue as Reliving Principal Wednesday to Friday and both Carmel and I will be taking on the Learning Support role where we will focus on groups of students in targeted areas of Literacy and Numeracy. Ms Donna Maclean will continue on as School Learning and Support Officer in the 3-6 class and Mrs Kylie Reeves will remain with us in the office.
I would like to thank the students, staff and the wonderful community of Eugowra for welcoming me to Eugowra Public this year. It has been wonderful to work so closely with the community at many functions throughout the year.
We finished the year with our annual Presentation Night where each student was recognised for their outstanding contributions to their learning; it was also where we premiered our recent 'Git Up Challenge'! Check it out on the school's Facebook page!
Thank you everyone for your support throughout 2019 and I look forward to leading the school with Carmel next year in 2020.
