Gentle rain was falling as the Advocate prepared to go to press on Monday.
Eight mm had been measured at Forbes airport overnight, but residential gauges in Oxford Street and in Abbott Street both had 11mm in them on Monday morning.
The forecast was also looking promising.
At lunchtime Monday Weatherzone indicated an 80 per cent chance of rain on Wednesday, with falls of 10 to 20mm possible.
Temperatures will remain reasonably warm though, with a top of 28 degrees expected.
The likelihood of rain is increasing later in the week, as of lunchtime Monday Weatherzone gave Forbes a 90 per cent chance of 20 to 40mm both Thursday and Friday.
We sure hope this rain system comes in, and our farmers can get sowing winter crops!
Very mild temperatures are forecast, with a morning low of 18 degrees and an afternoon peak of 23 expected.
Showers are expected to ease on the weekend and a cooler change is on the way.
