Forbes Shire Council has taken delivery of the first two mature palm trees that will form part of the landscaping around the new Camp Street Bridge.
There are six more palms to be planted on the approaches to the $12.8 million bridge, and they will be surrounded by more local native trees as well.
Transport for NSW contractors have been working to remove the historic bridge and build a new one since late August last year.
The council is landscaping the approaches to the new bridge, with the design incorporating the historic lamp posts from the 1927 bridge.
There's not long now until the new bridge will open, details to come in Tuesday's edition of The Forbes Advocate.
