Constable Nongkhu began her career as a police officer just over a month ago, and her placement in Forbes is almost a homecoming for her.
Nongkhu spent her younger years in Parkes, where she went to school from year five to year 11, and she said that she preferred to work in a country location.
Becoming a police officer has been a childhood dream for Nongkhu and she always had the intent of applying but only worked up to it in 2017 after becoming a citizen. Born in Thailand, Nongkhu and her family moved to Sydney when she was five months old before eventually moving to Parkes for school.
Nongkhu said she was going to apply when she was younger, but wanted to get some experience first.
Before joining the force, Nongkhu worked in Human Resources for the Department of Education and helped out at her parents' restaurant.
"I think I matured over the time frame. It made me a better communicator," she said.
Sergeant Dave Giblett comes to Forbes from Orange where he spent the last two and a half years. Prior to that, he worked as a police officer in Redfern for six and a half years.
Giblett said working as a police officer over the last ten years has allowed him to see and meet a wide variety of people across the community.
Giblett said he came out to work in the country as he wanted a tree change and when they visited Forbes, they liked the idea of a tighter knit community.
Officer in charge of Forbes Police Inspector Shane Jessep was happy to welcome Sergeant Giblett and Constable Nongkhu to the team at Forbes.
"Sergeant Giblett brings with him a wealth of experience from both metropolitan and country policing environments and I am looking forward to working with him," he said.
"Constable Nongkhu is just starting her career in the NSW Police and the addition of both of these officers to the Forbes Police Station will further enhance our ability to provide quality policing services to the local community."
