There's no Woodbridge Cup competition this year but the local rugby league team, the Golden Eagles, has kicked off a different campaign in Mullets for Mental Health.
Players and a group of young locals have got the 1980s style cut in and will be growing it in coming weeks to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute.
Kurtis Wright reckons he's rocking his mullet and he'll take it right through to next September if he can.
"At the moment I feel like I'm about 16," he laughed this week.
It was really something the side could do in memory of the late Timothy Yell, who had a good-looking mullet as a kid, something for the group to get into and gather round.
He credited the club's Sue and John Park for running with the idea from community nurse Liz Mitchell and Rural Adversity Mental Health Program representative Di Gill.
"Eugowra is a good place, we wanted to get together but also take it outside Eugowra, take it further," Kurtis said.
The willing participants gathered at the local park with two hairdressers to give them a new style - and both the numbers and the financial support grew as the afternoon went on.
"We're looking fabulous, it's going to be a good laugh," Kurtis said.
But the group is also very well aware of the seriousness of the cause and the need to check in with each other and keep in touch, he added.
You can support the cause by going online to teamblackdog.org.au and looking for the Mandagery Mullets.
The Black Dog Institute says funds will go towards research into the early detection, prevention and treatment of common mental health disorders.
