Jared DeMamiel from Boys to the Bush said $5000 funding approved in the first round of the council's community funding program would enable them to work with a dozen local high school students on a fortnightly basis.
It's another outreach for an organisation that has grown rapidly since its inception last year, offering holiday camps to disengaged boys.
They've now set up in the former biscuit factory in the centre of town, with a terrific recreation centre, and hosted another successful round of camps within COVID-19 guidelines in the most recent school holiday break.
"We're just trying to give every boys the opportunity to become a good man," Jared said.
A separate $2660 grant will make it possible for the organisation to purchase eight mountain bikes for the boys.
Forbes Fins was another fortunate grant recipient: Kristy Wallace said the $2579 the swimming club received will enable them to purchase an electronic timing system.
The club has 300 members and Kristy said this will make a huge difference to the volunteers' workload at time trials each Friday night.
The Forbes Playgroup will be free thanks to council funding covering their hall rental as well as some craft supplies and cleaning products.
