The Major Fours final was a thriller with the result going down to the final end for lead Peter Mackay, second John Kennedy and skip Laurie Crouch to take the title with a 23-22 win over Alf Davies, Viv Russell and 'Bert' Bayley.
The Bayley combination went into the game as favourites to lead after five ends before a four then a five had the Crouch combination in the lead before it was 19-all then 21-19 to the Bayley combination.
Playing a superb skips game Laurie saved the last two ends for his team before the Bayley team hit the lead one in front with one end left to play.
Saving his best for last Peter sat his final two bowls next to kitty which stayed for the rest of the game taking the major title.
All six players were credited with playing a part in the game, however, all agree it was the pressure play of Laurie which saw him handle the 'slower' greens best.
In the Minor Singles Warren Keep took control from the outset winning 31-16 against Peter Hocking. With 'tongue in cheek' Peter said he was only in the game once, 'at the start', such was the dominance display by Warren, described by many as the best lead in the club.
All was not lost for 'Bert' Bayley last weekend as he Brian Asimus and Lindsay Wellding have advanced to the state play-offs in Veterans Triples which will be played early in the new year at Ettalong. Winning the district play-offs in Dubbo earlier they advanced to the southern sectional final in Parkes last Sunday to set the date for the Central Coast final.
A finals game of interest coming up will be the Minor Triples where the 'hot' combination of 'Gunna' and Geoff Williams and Laurence Jackson await the winner of the semi final between Ivan Hodges, Bob Grant and Peter Hocking and the team of Jim Moloy, John Gorton and last week's hero Peter Mackay.
Most likely to be played tomorrow week will be the final of Minor Fours between Ivan Hodges, Denny Byrnes, Mike Valentine and Peter Hocking against the combination of John, Scott and Wayne Burton and Peter White.
Also ready to start 'full-time' is A and B Pairs with some interesting combinations drawn.

Twenty eight social players last week for the Wednesday morning roll-up where the card draw winners were John Baass and Geoff Williams with a 21-17 win over Geoff Coles and Laurie Crouch over 20 ends after being behind 5-13 after 10. Fourteen shots on the last six ends was the winner.
Closer was the game between Eddie Gould and Bill Looney with a 19-15 win over Merv Langfield and Don Craft holding on to a 13-4 at 'oranges'.
Peter Mackay and Tony Bratton finished comfortable 21-11 winners over Kerry Dunstan and Scott McKellar finishing strong with the 'half-time' score 10-9 against the winners.
Great to see Ralph Waugh back on the green sharing a game with Fred Vogelsang and skip Grant Lambert to win 21-17 over Michael Coles and Warren Keep with the score 11-9 at 'oranges' in a 22 end game.
Trevor Currey and 'Slippery' Ward took to the green slightly uncertain of the outcome as they drew Bill O'Connell and Lindsay Wellding. After 20 ends they were all smiles even allowing for defeat, 21-19, and taking four on the last two ends.
Ron Thurlow and John Kennedy doubled the score of David Williams and Alf Davies winning 22-11 over 20 ends.
Winning the first eight ends to lead 14-0 Denny Byrnes and Barry Shine were all smiles after 20 ends winning 28-10 over Ray Dunstan and 'Scooter' Andrews who only scored on four ends.
In the in-house meat raffle John Baass and Scott McKellar were winners. Bowlers are reminded about COVID-19 regulations on the greens and in-house, good bowling and stay safe.
