Forbes Shire Council used a heritage grant obtained last year to restore the structure to its original facade.
When the flourescent light was removed, so was a covering on the ceiling that revealed stunning rosettes and other pattern work, a report to the Forbes Heritage Advisory Committee published in the last council meeting notes says.
The light was replaced with a "more suitable" LED option.
Restoration work involved internal and external painting, repairs to the timber seating, new guttering, internal plaster and roofing.
The Forbes Men's Shed provided some woodwork skills, turning some replica decorative pieces that can be seen under the ends of the rafters on the outside of the structure.
Forbes local and National Library historian Rob Willis, who has been researching the history of the features of Victoria Park, says a Band rotunda has always been an important part of our Park, starting with what was known as the 'Pixie Rotunda' (due to its distinctive roof) which was built in 1880.
The rotunda we know today was officially opened in September 1926.
