None more so than the upcoming Major Triples final where current club champion Brian 'Spro' Asimus awaits the winner of the much anticipated semi final between Lyall Strudwick and Scott 'Scooter' Andrews.
For 'Spro' to enter the final he had to overcome one of the town's more prominent sportsman in Robert 'Bert' Bayley. The score 33-13 over 23 ends.
'Bert' started well winning the first two ends for 3-0 before the ever confident 'Spro' took charge to lead 16-4 after 12 to wrap the game up winning the last five ends 11-0.
In his quarter final 'Scooter' showed a fair bit of form to win 33-13 over Ron Thurlow who is giving all a game no matter the grade.
However, over 22 ends the greenkeeper was always in command leading 12-2 after six, 23-4 after 12 then 28-9 after 17.
'Scooter' now enters the semi final against Lyall who we reported earlier winning over Denny Byrnes.
All three can bowl and when to be played, the GF will be a game well worth watching, as will the earlier semi final.
The Minor Singles are now in full swing with the second round draw up and running with first round winners catching those who received a first round draw.
In the first round round Sid Morris proved too strong for Michael Coles winning 31-10 over 26 ends. It must be a habit, don't win the first couple of ends as Michael led 2-0 after two before Sid let loose to lead 12-4 after 11 ends, then 23-9 after 20 to coast home.
Another to jump well was Shane 'Bossa' Bolam in his game against club president Peter Mackay leading 5-0 after two. Again that was it for the promising newcomer in 'Bossa' to trail the 15-5 after eight before making a spurt to bridge the gap to 15-12 after 12 then 22-23 to Peter after 22 setting the scene for an exciting finish.
A bit of experience told in the finish over the closely shared final eight ends which went to Peter 8-6.
Ron Thurlow is proving to be a 'war horse' never giving up as it took Noel Jolliffe 35 ends to gain the upper-hand winning 33-26.
Ron, another to lead was up 6-0 after three before it was 10-all after 12 ends prior to Ron hitting the lead 23-14 after 23. Gentleman Noel then took control winning the final 12 ends 19-3.
An easier game had Grant Lambert cruising home 31-6 over Phil Moran in a leisurely 18 ends.
Phil did lead wining the first with a single but that was it as he could only win another four ends for the inform Grant to leave the green smiling.
Draw for Round 2 of the Minor Singles - In the top half; Kerry Dunstan vs Paul Doust; Peter Mackay vs Sid Morris; Grant Lambert vs Bob Grant; Tony Bratton vs Noel Jolliffe. In the bottom half; Ray Dunstan awaits the winner of the game between Peter Hocking and John Cutler; Ian Simmonds vs Cliff Nelson; Jeff Nicholson has already won over John 'Slippery' Ward; Scott McKellar vs Laurie Crouch.
