Daisy's Girl ($2.50) proved why she was the favourite in the Ladbrokes Split Multi 1-2 Wins 5th Grade 307m claiming the win by a margin of five and a half lengths by three quarters.
Daisy's Girl jumped from box 5 and led the whole race, finishing with a strong time of 17.72 seconds.
Hughes said he was very happy with her win and she had a good run, claiming the fastest time on the night.
Having only had Daisy's Girl at his kennels for a few weeks, Hughes was quite happy with her form, saying she came to him ready to go in top shape.
Moving forward, Hughes said he is planning to keep running her at races around the 300m mark until she indicates that she is ready for something longer.
Daisy's Girl will return to race at Bathurst again next Thursday and all going well, will feature at Dubbo on Saturday, September 18.
Hughes is optimistic that she will run well across her next few races.
While he is confident of her chances, Hughes does admit some of it will come down to if she draws well and who she's up against.
