Di has previously served 16 years on council - from 1983 to 1999 - and is standing as a candidate for the December 4 elections as well.
Di is well known in our community, having worked for many years in disability services, initiating the Forbes Special Sports Day and being named a Member of the Order of Australian or AM for her work.
That said, she's also got her eyes fixed forward on achieving more for Forbes.
"I have a big vision for Forbes and I have always been prepared to speak out," Mrs Decker said.
Her priorities include our local health services, starting with a new operating theatre for our hospital.
Transport and links are also on the agenda, including more comprehensive flood-proofing for the Newell Highway between Parkes and West Wyalong, a flight service for our airport and train service for our railway station.
Housing is another focus.
She believes looking at the potential of the former Britannia gold mine in light of modern equipment and mining techniques could result in a renewal of industry for Forbes.
Mrs Decker also believes that there is still incredible tourism potential in the tunnels under our local streets - and that's not the only thing that draws people to Forbes.
"We have an amazing Aboriginal history which people all over the world are interested in," Mrs Decker said. "So we do need to recognise our amazing heritage."
"We need to expand and recognise the Forbes Family History Rooms, so many people come and use that facility," Mrs Decker said. "It's a really really important service that Forbes has to offer."
She also highlights the richness of Gum Swamp, having campaigned for the funding through Dick Smith and Australian Geographic to build the original bird hide on site.
Mrs Decker has been serving as president of the Forbes Heated Pool committee for a couple of years now and is an advocate for incorporating a heated pool into one aquatic centre with an Olympic pool.
"I have got a big vision for Forbes," she said. "I do have a disability but I have plenty of ability too."
