The State Emergency Service has extended the "all clear" to more Forbes properties with the current flood peak past town.
Moderate flooding continues through low-lying areas, and the SES advises both residents and businesses to keep preparations in place as this weekend's forecast may see another rise in the river.
However, the organisation has issued a partial all-clear for the following areas that were under evacuation orders:
South of Bathurst Street: Church Street, College Road, Wambat Street, Stokes Street and Koala Place.
The following areas remain under the evacuation order until a formal all clear is issued.
South of Bathurst Street: River Road, Stacey Street, Reymond Street, Lachlan Valley Way, Wandary Lane, Muscat Street and Claret Street
East of Ooma Street/Ferry Street: Blackwood Lane, Lower Bathurst Street, Bathurst Street, Riflerange Road, The Escort Way, Twogood Lane and Ooma Street
What you need to do:
- People with access to transport can return to their properties now.
- Stay alert - dangerous conditions caused by flooding may still remain.
- Continue to monitor your local conditions.
- Drive slowly, obey all roadblocks and never drive through floodwaters. Damage to roads and buildings caused by flooding may still exist in your area.
If your property has been affected by floodwater:
- Make sure your property is safe before entering. Check for damage to windows, walls and the roof and be careful of potential dangers including asbestos
- Make sure the electricity and gas is turned off before going inside. Use a torch to carry out inspections inside buildings
- If power points, electrical equipment, appliances or electrical hot water systems have been exposed to floodwater or are water damaged in any way, they must be inspected by a qualified electrician before use
- Gas appliances and gas bottles that have been exposed to floodwater should be inspected for safety before use
- Wear suitable protective clothing, including boots and gloves when cleaning up
- Be aware of any slip, trip or fall hazards
- Never eat food which has been in contact with floodwater
- Only use clean utensils and personal items
- Have a supply of fresh drinking water
