Forbes floods 2021: Second flood peak past Jemalong, major flooding continues

The second flood peak is now past Jemalong Weir, the Bureau of Meteorology says, but the Lachlan River remains at the major flood level in the area.

Water peaked at 7.85m about 8.15am Wednesday, as of Friday morning it was at 7.7m and falling.

It's remained above the major flood level of 7.7m since November 20, Water NSW data reveals, with that impacting numerous farming families.

With the water receding upstream and in Forbes, roads are re-opening.

The Escort Way to Eugowra opened Tuesday; the Lachlan Valley Way to Cowra opened Wednesday; and both the Henry Lawson Way to Grenfell and Wirrinya Road opened on Thursday.

Bedgerabong Road has reopened as of Friday afternoon, but the council advises that multiple locations have low-level water over the road and have suffered pavement damage.

Please drive to the conditions and take care.

The South Condobolin Road or Lachlan Valley Way is closed at the 21 mile.
