"Disappointed."
The Platypi were confident leading into the game, but were unable to recover from a disallowed try in the 15th minute.
Prior said the game unraveled for his troops from there.
“After the try was disallowed we went into our shell a bit,” he said.
“We made a lot of unforced errors, missed a lot of one-on-one tackles and they beat us in our set pieces.”
Prior said the team were disappointed with the loss, but made the most of the 80 minute game.
“The boys were disappointed, we let ourselves down,” he said.
“But we managed to score the last try and everyone stuck to the task until the very end.”
Standout players for the Platypi were second-rower Andrew Hubbard, front-rower Kyle Sharpe and Graeme Crapper, who played well in fullback.
In second grade the Platypi lost against Narromine 10-7, but Forbes' colts won 29-19.
While Blowes Clothing Cup sides enjoy a bye this weekend on Thursday the Platypi will travel to Condobolin to face the Rams for the Brad Ridley Shield, a title they have held every year since the memorial game started in 2003.
The next competition round will be a home match against Orange City Lions on the Anzac Day weekend.
Prior believes his side will be ready to host the defending champions.
“We’ll be working on the fundamentals and ball security,” Prior said.
“We’ve tasted the sweet, now we’ve tasted the bitter, so we need to find a happy medium.”
