The brand new play equipment at Apex Park is officially opened in Forbes

Yesterday was the official opening of Apex Park and the focus was all on the kids.

Forbes mayor Ron Penny officially opened the park and cut the rainbow cake before each of the children were treated to a cupcake and let loose on the play equipment.

Children from Forbes Primary School, Forbes Preschool, Forbes Learning Ladder and Bright Beginnings were in attendance, as well as council representatives and Friends of Forbes Apex.

Cr Penny said the new park is a fantastic thing for Forbes.

“It is obviously popular by the number of people here today enjoying it,” he said.

“The quality, workmanship and the way it is laid out is just beautiful.

“Forbes should be very proud of what this is.”

Cr Jeff Nicholson said Apex Park is great and we need another two parks like it in town.

“It’s been patronised since day one,” he said.

General manager Brian Steffen said everything in the park is Australian standard compliant and that every day he drives past it is always full.

He is pleased to announce that council is starting designs for Nelson Park play equipment.

“We’ll be doing community consultations at the end of October and finding out what the kids would like, which is what we did here – talk to young people and see what they’d like to see,” Mr Steffen said.

“Over the next four years we’ll update two more parks which is part of our plan to invest in core parks and assets for the whole community.”
