Guests were left gobsmacked when a group of well-known Forbes residents hijacked the 2015 President’s Lunch with a flash mob performance of ‘I am Australian’.

The flash mob stole the show with their beautiful rendition of the classic Australian song which kicked off another fantastic President’s Lunch, described as the best yet.
President’s Lunch organiser and the brains behind the top secret performance, Kim Muffet, said the flash mob was certainly the highlight of the day.
“The flash mob really set the tone for the day,” he said.
“People were blown away by the way it happened.
“I was crying, I think a lot of people had tears in their eyes and many said they had goosebumps.”
The flash mob performance that had even the MC shocked featured Sydney-based musician Evie J Willie, who stood up from her seat to sing the first verse of ‘I am Australian’ to the sounds of a didgeridoo.
The crowd was then stunned when Phil and Judy Prior and Sophie Harris stood up from their seats to sing the second verse.
Forbes’ own success story, Celia Pavey, joined in for the third verse, followed by Emily Pavey, Amelia Sweeney, Rowan Woods and Mark Willis, while Barbara Bruce provided a lovely accompaniment on the keyboard.
Another highlight of the day was guest speaker Peter FitzSimons who entertained the crowd with stories of his rugby days.
“FitzSimons was a big hit, he was exceptional,” Mr Muffet said.
The six former Wallabies players, or legends, who attended the lunch had a great time and were a nice addition to the day, along with a display of Wallabies memorabilia from the Shaw family.
“It was a delight to have those guys [the legends],” Mr Muffet said.
“They were very impressed with the day and the ones that I spoke to said, ‘wow, what an absolute credit to the club and the town to put on a show like that’.”
Mr Muffet said Eat Your Greens did a fantastic job and managed to get all 850 main meals out in 32 minutes.
“Eat Your Greens and their staff did an amazing job and so many people commented on the quality of the meal,” he said.
Mr Muffet also applauded everyone who helped set up the marquees and the tables, as well as all the staff serving drinks on the day.
“It was a community effort,” he said.
The auction was also a huge success with Rosie Johnston’s painting, ‘Streetscapes of Forbes’, selling for a whopping $6100, while Monica Sanderson’s piece, ‘The Three Platypi’, sold for $3100 with all proceeds from that going towards the Greg Sanderson Memorial Golf Day.
Overall, it was a top day which Mr Muffet said was due to a great crowd.
“The highlight was just the people - the crowd were all there to have a really good time,” he said.
“It was sensational, just a really good, happy day.”
