Orange-based artist Robert Keen gave the ute mounted in the Lions Park a facelift, painting each of its windows.
Keen painted iconic Australian images such as a Cobb and Co coach, a wanted poster of Ben Hall, a depiction of Red Dog and an Anzac Day memorial tribute on each of the windows.
The WB Holden ute in Lions Park was donated to the Forbes Lions Club in 2012 and it featured contributions from 12 different artists on its body.
The ute was a collaborative project by both Forbes Shire Council and the Lions Club which was hoped to be a teaser to the Ootha tourist attraction for Forbes visitors.
Forbes Lions Club’s vice president Peter Bright said the club now hopes to source funds to build a roof over the ute to preserve all of the artists’ work.
“We would really like to put a roof over it so if anyone is interested in assisting the Lions Club in funding for a skillion, we’d really appreciate it,” he said.
