The Magpies are “raring to go” after a couple of quiet weeks, according to captain Zac Merritt.
The Forbes side suffered a surprise loss to Dubbo Westside two weeks ago, but are expected to fare better after having last weekend off.
“The bye came at the right time for us, it was much needed,” Merritt said.
“We had a couple of niggling injuries but we are rejuvenated after our break and have our hunger back to beat CYMS.”
The Magpies will field a nearly full-strength side this weekend, with only Ben Robinson unavailable. Merritt was happy to welcome back centre Tyson Rewiti.
The Magpies did go down to CYMS in Dubbo, but Forbes started this season with a goal to win all their home games and they won’t be easily deterred from that.
“So far we haven’t been beaten at home and we hope to continue that,” he said.
“It’ll be good to get out there in front of our home crowd. They love watching us play and we love playing in front of them.”
Dubbo CYMS are also on a high following a 50-point win over Westside last weekend.
Coach Tim Ryan described their performance as the best he’d seen from the side all season.
“It was good, that was the best we’ve played this season, I think,” he said.
“We were up for it and ready to go so it was very pleasing and a good day for footy.”
CYMS remain undefeated and locked at the top of the ladder with Parkes but Ryan played down his side’s form.
“As silly as it sounds I don’t think about how we haven’t been beaten, I just think towards next week’s game,” he said last Sunday.
“We’ve got Forbes and what happened today doesn’t mean a great deal for that and when it comes 2pm next Sunday we’ll be ready to take them on.”
The Magpies face Dubbo CYMS at Spooner Oval this Sunday with first grade expected to kick off about 2.30pm.
