Who rules ‘House Rules’

Now how many of you who watch, want the cobbers from the bush to win … Cody and Luke who just happen to be the good fellas of the competition who everyone seems to love.

Well they get my vote, not only because they have some innate skills at design but because they flout the words less “we are not going home”.

Seriously it must be part of the contract of the teams to declare at least twice a week when they are on that they are not “going home”.

For those who don’t watch (shame on you!) the reason this utterance seems to be scripted is that the overall winner gets their mortgage paid.

It is the same with sister show My Kitchen Rules, they don’t like the idea of going home either but not because they won’t get their mortgage paid … they all seem to have nice homes and nice kitchens which is a necessity clearly to be on that show. 

But many do have an utterance which they vary around the same theme like ”faster, come on faster, you’ve got to move faster!”

Cameras always seem to be there when participant are overwhelmed and teary, probably because they are fearful they won’t get their mortgage paid.

In My Kitchen Rules we have the goodies and the baddies. 

The baddies are those (generally the female variety) who cook with daggers in their eyes and keep the daggers around when critiquing someone else’s cooking.

Of course you all want them out of the show but somehow they survive another week to keep the “we hate you” syndrome going, sort of like State of Origin in the kitchen.

But getting back to the cobbers … Cody and Luke or Luke and Cody whichever way you prefer them, they give hope to all those who think DIY stands for Drunken Idiotic Yobboes. 

Their lack of knowledge of some of the terminology associated with home décor is refreshing to us who have the same problem and so is the fact that they resort to their mobile phone or Google to find out what the term means. 

But can I finally suggest to the producers that when there is a few minutes left to finish, mess everywhere that when the judges come by moments later it not be spic and span.

I am not talking about not finishing a job as was required but more leaving dirt, mud etc on railings come up looking like a genie has suddenly materialised to do the work for them.

Anyway it is now down to the serious stuff on House Rules.
