The runs – Forbes High School’s at Lake Forbes on Wednesday and Red Bend’s on site on Thursday - were a colourful part of a big week celebrating the contribution of young people in Forbes.
On Tuesday night, Rosie Yapp was presented with the Youth Citizen Award for 2017.
The Year 12 Red Bend Catholic College student was described as “always ready to help the community … always with a smile on her face”.
Mayor Graeme Miller said the panel of judges who had to choose winners from the nominations for this year’s honours had some very difficult decisions.
“The names here tonight include young people who have made contributions in fields ranging from sport to music, charity and more,” Mayor Miller said.
A full story on Rosie and photos of the others recognised on the night for their achievements can be found here.
On Friday night, Youth Week wraps up with the celebration that is YouthFest at King George V Park (next to Forbes Youth and Community Centre) from 6pm.
The night features entertainment by local young performers and a free barbecue.
All are invited to stay for the screening of the movie Sing after the live entertainment.
The Forbes events are part of National Youth Week 2017 and the theme is Get Involved, Be Heard, Make a Difference.
