Bedgerabong Picnic Races committee president Jimmy Rodgers said the meeting, which was rescheduled from a blisteringly hot day in February, was a great day out.
“The crowd was down a bit but you expect that when you postpone an event,” he said.
“The plus side was, we got to hold our meeting.
“Those who were there had a great day.”
Racegoers also had a great evening: although darkness came a lot faster than in February, there were still good entries in the traditional on-track foot races that follow the last horse race.
Crowds then gathered around the fire buckets that are in place from the annual show’s fire bucket championship.
“The band was great and the crowd partied on,” Mr Rodgers said.
“The change in the weather from the February date was good and the night was actually quite mild, but the fire buckets were a good move.”
