Join in National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday at 11am at Forbes Library.
This year’s shared story will be the highly entertaining story The Cow Tripped Over the Moon written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
Central West Libraries manager Jan Richards, said the annual campaign aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
“This is a vibrant, fun event that promotes the value of reading and literacy,” Ms Richards said.
“We want to ensure National Simultaneous Storytime is an enjoyable experience so that children and their families know reading can be fun,” she said.
National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
Now in its 17th successful year, the storytime is designed to be a fun event that promotes the value of reading using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
