Earlier this year Ron Wardrop was diagnosed with Stage IV oesophageal cancer with lung and liver metastases.
This Saturday, June 24, Yvonne will walk from the Wiradjuri Dreaming Centre to the Forbes Aquatic Centre and back four times to help support her friend and his family.
“When I found out that he was sick I decided to help him out. He has helped a lot of people so it was about time people helped him,” she said.
During and after Yvonne’s walk, there will be a Welcome to Country ceremony, Aboriginal dancing, Dreamtime songs, speeches, a sausage sizzle, kids activities and more. Everyone is welcome.
Yvonne reached her $1000 goal on May 20 and has so far raised $2300 for Ron through selling raffle tickets and auctioning donated items on Facebook. Yvonne thanks all the local businesses and donors for their support.
